271,000 families in Kyrgyzstan live below minimum subsistence level

At least 271,000 families in Kyrgyzstan live below the minimum subsistence level, which today amounts to 4,900 som, the leader of Respublika-Ata Jurt faction Ruslan Kazakbaev reported at a meeting of the faction.

According to him, 120,000 families spend less than $1 a day.

“In rural areas, one-day expenditures of one family do not reach even one dollar. The implementation of the law on State Allowances raises many questions,” he said.

According to the deputies, every year the number of applicants for state allowances increases by 2 percent. At the moment, their number reaches 161,000.
