Seventeen PPP projects worth $166 million implemented in Kyrgyzstan


The role of the law on public-private partnership is significant in the development of the country's regions, chairman of the Committee on Economic and Fiscal Policy of the Kyrgyz Parliament Nurlan Makeyev said today at the parliamentary hearings devoted to public-private partnership (PPP).

He said that 2018 declared the Year of Regional Development by the presidential decree. "The role of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic On public-private partnership in the Kyrgyz Republic is significant in the development of regions. I believe that local authorities during the parliamentary hearings will take into account good proposals and experience in implementing PPP projects for the development of their regions," Nurlan Makeyev said.

Deputy Prime Minister Daiyr Kenekeyev recalled that the law on PPP was adopted in 2009, but did not work for several years, and in 2012, the law was amended accordingly.

He added that 17 PPP projects are currently being implemented in Kyrgyzstan worth in total $ 166 million, including 4 projects in the health sector.

Participants of the parliamentary hearings discussed the main problems, challenges and findings on the implementation of the Law "On public-private partnership in the Kyrgyz Republic", the functioning of the mechanism of public-private partnership in the republic, experience in implementing public-private partnership projects in public health.
