The State Enterprise National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu (Kyrgyz Railway) and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) signed a financing agreement for the amount of $5.2 million.
The document was signed within the "Modernisation of the production complex of repair units of the State Enterprise National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" project.
The funds received will be used to purchase and modernise the necessary equipment for the locomotive depot. This will significantly increase the production capacity and efficiency of repair works of the Locomotive Branch.
At present, the Locomotive Engineering Branch performs current inspection and current repair of diesel locomotives using its own capabilities. Meanwhile, overhaul of diesel locomotives is performed in neighbouring countries.
For the last year the enterprise at its own expense has modernised the production complexes available in the depot by more than 30 percent, which is already reflected in the efficiency of works and saving of funds.
After the implementation of the above project, the remaining part will be modernised, which will make it possible to perform overhaul of diesel locomotives at the enterprise, thus significantly reducing the repair time and its cost.
