According to the results of 7 months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan reduced gold exports by 4.7%. Such conclusions can be drawn based on the data of the National Statistical Committee.
In total, Kyrgyzstan exported 7 tonnes of gold worth $509 million in January-July. If we compare exports by weight, this is 4.7% less, but exports by value, on the contrary, increased by almost 10% than in the same period of 2023, when 7.4 tonnes worth $463 million were exported.
The UK has become the leader in buying Kyrgyz gold over the past 7 months, which increased gold imports by 50% in June. For clarity: in January-June, the UK purchased more than 2.8 tonnes of precious metal worth $ 212 million, and in January-July - 4.2 tonnes worth $ 315 million.
The UK is followed by China with an indicator of more than 1.8 tonnes and a value of $129 million. Then there are Switzerland (0.9 tonnes, $63 million) and the UAE (slightly less than 14 kg, $881 thousand).
It should be noted that Kyrgyzstan actively exported gold to China at the beginning of the year. However, the situation changed in April when supplies to the UK resumed, which bought more gold in three months than the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and China combined in seven months. After that, gold exports to the last 3 countries stopped, and supplies go only to the UK.
