President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a law aimed at strengthening the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs and investors in Kyrgyzstan.
The new law amends the Criminal Code, the Code of Offences and the Code of Criminal Procedure. In particular, a new article of the Criminal Code is being introduced, providing for liability for officials for obstructing legitimate business activities using official position.
Responsibility for illegal inspections and obstruction of the activities of entrepreneurs by officials has also been strengthened. In addition, when considering preventive measures against entrepreneurs and investors, courts are now required to primarily consider the use of electronic surveillance, bail or house arrest.
The law comes into force 10 days after its official publication.
