President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov visits Brussels

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell and the European Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen on November 22, 2021 in Dushanbe. The Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The parties discussed the main issues on the bilateral agenda and plans for the near future, including the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to the EU headquarters with the subsequent signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

The High Representative Josep Borrell congratulated the Kyrgyz side on the successful holding of the First EU-CA Economic Forum on November 5, 2021.

He also informed about the interest of European investors to invest in renewable energy projects and sustainable development.

Ruslan Kazakbaev informed about the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan and thanked for sending observers from the European side. The European Commissioner Urpilainen stressed the importance of holding open and democratic elections, which will give impetus to the further development of multifaceted relations between Kyrgyzstan and the EU.

The High Representative Borrell expressed concern about the problems in the mining industry in Kyrgyzstan. Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev invited European experts to create a working group to assess environmental damage since the independence of Kyrgyzstan.
