Kyrgyzstan is leader in Central Asia for civil society development – US diplomat

Kyrgyzstan is the leader in its region and beyond for the development of civil society, Temporary Charge d'Affaires of the US in Kyrgyzstan Alan Meltzer told at the annual conference on assessing the interaction of public councils and state authorities.

In his speech, the Charge d'Affaires of the US in Kyrgyzstan stressed that the public councils were created for close cooperation between the state and civil sector in order to make the work of the government more efficient and transparent.

"Thanks to the establishment of such mechanisms as public councils, Kyrgyzstan has demonstrated its commitment to attracting government work for the benefit of people. These councils can also become a tool for implementing the Taza Koom program, which has great prospects for increasing the transparency of management, improving citizen service and building relations between civil society and government ,"said the Temporary Charge d'Affaires.

Meltzer mentioned that the public councils in Kyrgyzstan have achieved a number of successes, and today they are becoming a stable platform for dialogue between the government and civil society.

The conference was held at the Congress Hall of the Ala-Archa State Residence.

The event is attended by Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Sapar Isakov, members of public councils, representatives of state authorities, civil society organizations, as well as international organizations.
