The Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Urmat Asanbaev, conducted a working meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Advisor to the Minister of Sports Sharifzhon Mumindzhanov.
As reported by the agency, during the meeting, questions of developing cooperation in the sports sphere between the two countries, implementing joint projects, and interacting within the framework of international sports events were discussed.
The parties paid special attention to preparations for the VI World Nomad Games, which will take place from 1 to 6 September in the Issyk-Kul region. The meeting participants exchanged views on organisational issues connected with the participation of the national team of Uzbekistan in the upcoming games.
Urmat Asanbaev expressed gratitude to the Uzbekistani side for the support provided within the framework of preparing and holding the VI World Nomad Games. He emphasised that this cooperation will make a great contribution to strengthening sports ties between the two states and the successful holding of the Nomad Games at an international level.
In his turn, Sharifzhon Mumindzhanov noted the high interest of Uzbekistan in active participation in the World Nomad Games and stated that interaction aimed at holding the games at the highest level will be continued.
The World Nomad Games is an international cultural and sports event first held in 2014 at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan is the author of the concept and the initiator of holding the Games, aimed at the preservation, development, and popularisation of ethnic types of sports and the traditional culture of nomadic peoples of the world.
The VI World Nomad Games will take place in Kyrgyzstan from 31 August to 6 September 2026. The opening ceremony will take place on 31 August in Bishkek at the Bishkek Arena stadium, coinciding with the Independence Day of the country, whereas the main sports and cultural events will take place in the Issyk-Kul region. The participation of more than 3,000 athletes from over 90 countries is expected.
