The Speaker of the Parliament Marlen Mamataliev today, 12 June, within the framework of an official visit to Kazakhstan met with President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. This was reported by the press service of the Parliament.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two states, including the development of inter-parliamentary interaction.
At the beginning of the conversation, Marlen Mamataliev conveyed greetings from the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. He noted that the Kyrgyz side supports the reforms aimed at building a new Kazakhstan under the leadership of Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, and emphasised the significance of the recent political transformations in the country.
The Speaker also noted that interstate ties have been actively developing in recent years, and bilateral meetings take place on a regular basis. According to him, the agreements reached will become the basis for further expanding cooperation and strengthening brotherly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to inter-parliamentary diplomacy. Marlen Mamataliev noted that the parliaments of the two countries actively interact and regularly hold joint events.
During the meeting, issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation were also discussed. In particular, the Speaker of the Parliament proposed to name one of the central streets of the city of Astana after the statesman Zhusup Abdrakhmanov.
In his turn, the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of the first official visit of Marlen Mamataliev and expressed confidence that it will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
He emphasised that Kyrgyzstan is a close neighbour, a brotherly state and a reliable partner for Kazakhstan, noting the historical closeness of the two peoples.
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev also noted the positive dynamic in the development of the economy of Kyrgyzstan. He added that the election of Kyrgyzstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council became an important event for the entire region.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, legislative support for the agreements reached and socio-economic reforms in the two countries.
The parties confirmed readiness for further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
