Yesterday, Elvira Surabaldieva, Chairperson of the Parliament Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security and Migration, met with Gholam Hossein Yadegari, Ambassador of Iran to Kyrgyzstan.
According to the parliament, during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Iranian cooperation, and also discussed issues of expanding inter-parliamentary interaction.
Touching upon the situation in the Middle East, Elvira Surabaldieva noted that Kyrgyzstan consistently supports the peaceful settlement of all conflicts based on the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
In addition, the head of the committee expressed gratitude to the Iranian side for supporting the candidacy of Kyrgyzstan in the elections to non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 20207–2028.
She also stated that the Kyrgyz side is interested in further expanding cooperation with Iran in political, trade and economic, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian, and other spheres.
Elvira Surabaldieva paid special attention to interaction within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, noting that the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in the SCO in 2026 is of great importance for the country.
In turn, Ambassador Gholam Hossein Yadegari thanked the Kyrgyz side for the support.
He stressed the high level of political dialogue between the two countries, based on the principles of mutual respect and trust, and confirmed the interest of Iran in further deepening bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
