The Speaker of the Parliament, Marlen Mamataliev, receives Gunther Krichbaum, a deputy of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany and State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the parliament's press service, the parties discussed the expansion of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries during the meeting, and exchanged views on the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Mamataliev noted that Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to strengthening partnership with European countries, including Germany.
Speaking about the reforms implemented recently in Kyrgyzstan, the Speaker emphasised that priority is given to creating conditions for women's participation in socio-political life. He cited the fact that the number of female deputies in parliament has increased as an example.
Mamataliev also informed that a parliamentary friendship group for cooperation with Germany has been established in the Parliament.
"We need to deepen the inter-parliamentary dialogue to bring the existing cooperation to a new level and successfully implement the agreements reached. Parliamentary diplomacy lies at the heart of all ties. It is especially important to organise bilateral working visits and interact closely at the level of friendship groups and relevant committees," he added.
Furthermore, issues concerning the sphere of migration were discussed at the meeting, and a proposal for further joint work in this direction was expressed.
In turn, Gunther Krichbaum, describing his visit to Kyrgyzstan as successful, particularly emphasised that he was glad to meet the Speaker.
He dwelt on issues of the development of bilateral relations and interaction in the "Central Asia + Germany" format.
Moreover, it was noted that deepening cooperation with the Parliament is a priority direction.
Krichbaum expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of Mamataliev to Germany will give momentum to the further strengthening of the partnership.
Additionally, the parties spoke about increasing interaction in the field of education.
