President Zhaparov meets Prime Minister of Tajikistan

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, on 13 February, met Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda within the framework of his working visit to the country.

They discussed issues of the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

The Head of State, welcoming the high guest, noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches priority attention to the further expansion of Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.

"Thanks to identical views, the President of Tajikistan and I have reached mutual understanding on key areas of cooperation and outlined guidelines for future interaction," said Sadyr Zhaparov.

He indicated that in development of the agreements, the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council successfully took place today, which should act as an important institution for the timely and effective implementation of the set tasks.

Furthermore, the President noted the need to unite efforts to counter transnational threats, such as terrorism, religious extremism, illegal drug trafficking, and organised crime.

In this context, he emphasised mutual support within the framework of the SCO for the creation of an Anti-Drug Centre in Dushanbe and the SCO Centre for Countering International Organised Crime in Bishkek.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the Prime Minister of Tajikistan discussed in detail all areas of cooperation with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, which will consolidate positive shifts in our relations and fill them with new qualitative content.

In turn, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and traditional hospitality extended to their delegation.

He conveyed warm words of greeting and best wishes to the President of Kyrgyzstan on behalf of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The Prime Minister noted that their leader invariably emphasises that the strengthening of good-neighbourly relations with Kyrgyzstan is a priority of the foreign policy of Tajikistan.

"We observe with sincere encouragement the large scale and positive transformations occurring in the life of your country. These achievements command sincere respect and testify to the creative energy of the Kyrgyz people under your leadership," said Kohir Rasulzoda.

He also noted that the economic indicators of Kyrgyzstan are among the highest economic indicators in the region.

"Thanks to your confidential dialogue with the President of Tajikistan and the manifested political will, our relations have reached a qualitatively new level of interaction. The signing and entry into force of the Treaty on the State Border became a historical achievement, which laid a solid foundation for eternal friendship, mutual respect, and trust," the Prime Minister emphasised.

Further, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that he shares the expressed assessments and supports the course for the further strengthening of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations.

In conclusion, the President expressed the conviction that the results of the visit of the Prime Minister and the joint activity of the governments will contribute to the further progressive and fruitful development of bilateral interaction for the benefit of the prosperity of our states and peoples.
