Bishkek hosts seminar on Strengthening cooperation in defence industry between India and Kyrgyz Republic on 4–5 February.

The event takes place with the support of the Embassy of India in Bishkek, the Department of Defence Production of the Ministry of Defence of India, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyzstan.

More than 75 people participate in the seminar. The Kyrgyz side is represented by about 40 participants — employees of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Border Service, the State Service for Punishment Execution, and representatives of five defence companies. The Indian side is represented by 35 participants, including representatives of the Embassy, FICCI, and 15 defence enterprises.

Product presentations and an exhibition take place on 4 February, followed by B2B meetings on 5 February.

Ambassador of India to Kyrgyzstan Birender Singh Yadav, addressing the participants, notes that within the framework of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) concept, the country's defence sector undergoes large-scale reforms aimed at developing domestic production, innovation, and exports. According to him, a wide range of Indian defence products proves its effectiveness and sparks interest in global markets.

He emphasises that Kyrgyzstan, due to its strategic location and growing interest in technology, is a promising partner, and India stands ready to act as a reliable and long-term ally in the defence and technological spheres. The Ambassador calls for more active development of joint projects and enterprises in the field of advanced and niche technologies.

Deputy Minister of Defence of Kyrgyzstan Azizbek Baibalaev attends the event as the main guest. In his speech, he notes the growing dynamics of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India, emphasising that the seminar will become the basis for further interaction in the defence industry sector.

The seminar is conceived as a platform for developing cooperation within the framework of a strategic partnership. The event brings together representatives of state structures, defence companies, and experts from both countries and becomes a step towards the implementation of joint projects in the future.
