President Sadyr Zhaparov receives ADB Vice President Chen Shixin

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received today Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Chen Shixin.

During the meeting, priority areas of project and program cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the ADB were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.

The head of state expressed satisfaction with the dynamically developing cooperation with the ADB in the areas of green economy, energy and transport, agriculture and water management, environmental protection and climate change, which will help the country achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Along with this, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the interest in implementing projects in education and healthcare, as well as projects to attract investors to implement joint projects on the principles of public-private partnership. In addition, in order to implement anti-crisis measures in the most vulnerable sectors of the national economy, President Sadyr Zhaparov instructed the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic to work out the issue of attracting additional assistance from the ADB stabilization fund.

In turn, ADB Vice President Chen Shixin said that Kyrgyzstan is an important partner for ADB, and confirmed ADB's intention to support the implementation of the medium-term National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan. The ADB Vice President also welcomed the efforts of the head of state to carry out significant socio-economic reforms aimed at ensuring an accelerated post-COVID recovery, improving the welfare of citizens and developing a green economy as a measure to curb climate change.
